Left side of receiver is marked, “Crown V.R. H.R.B. Co. 1897 M.E. 303 A.C.1” . Right side of receiver carries original build date of 1883 by Enfield Lock Armoury. Receiver is well marked with UDF ownership mark, sold-out-service addorsed arrows and British military acceptance stamps. Knox form carries an “E” for Enfield rifling.
