Receiver ring marked “Steyr 1896″ with serial number below it. Serial number 50 and crown mark to bolt stem with matching number to major components, 30” (762mm) barrel, rear sight marked to 2200m. The Krag was regarded as the most desirable of the rifles purchased by the ZAR for the Boer War and was favoured by senior officers including Genl. Jan Smuts. State records show that only 300 Krags were imported to South Africa and this is undoubtedly one of them. Rifle is complete, metalwork has been reblued and displays some minor pit marks under reblued finish. (Start Bid : R22500 Hi Estimate: R29500)
