F05-574 7x57mm Boer “Plezier” Mauser Rifle By DWM Berlin

This no doubt a war trophy that was taken back to England after the Boer War with certain “modifications/improvements” made to it. This is evident by later British proofs to the barrel. Foresight has been replaced with a ramp styled front sight, rear sight has been replaced with a tangent type sight, action has been drilled and tapped for scope mounts and the bolt has been bent to clear a scope. The original sight slots are visible and are the new sights and these could be replaced with original type sights. Low 3-digit serial number. Schnabel type fore-end, cheekpiece to butt with typical German silver eschutcheon plate to side of butt. Octagonal 27″ (685,80mm) barrel. Fair to good bore, fairly good overall condition.
