100-F05-410 7x57mm Mauser Boer Carbine

Original ZAR Boer War Mauser bolt-action carbine in 7x57mm Mauser caliber with 18″ (457,20mm) barrel. According to Ron Bester’s book this rifle is from the third batch of 8 000 rifles and 2 000 carbines ordered by the ZAR in 1897. Marked “Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken Berlin” on left receiver wall. Serial number 5635 is its original number, no other numbers on rifle. Very good overall condition with matching numbers throughout including receiver, barrel, bolt, magazine box, rear sight, etc. Blueing worn on exposed metal parts, but no pitting or rust. Underneath wood blueing is still perfect. Complete and functional with original finish on metal and wood. Original sling swivels to stock. Bore excellent. A nice original example that has obviously seen battle but has not been altered in any way. (Start Bid : R10000 Hi Estimate: R15500)
