097-F01-284 7.62mm R1 “Sanitised” Rifle

Originally a SADF issued rifle which has been “sanitised” by milling off the SADF ownership stamps to the left-hand side of the receiver upon issue to the Rhodesian forces. The SA Govt. did not want to be seen to be supplying weapons to Ian Smith’s forces, hence the removal of identification markings. A standard type one rifle with later pattern grooved handguards fitted. Wooden butt with traces of Rhodesain camo still evident. Good original condition, fair to good bore. New replacement barrels are available for the FN rifles.
