083-F004-7.62mm FN Heavy Barrel Service Rifle

Commonly known in SA as the “Heavy barrel rifle”, the factory designation was the “Falo” and was used as a squad automatic weapon by both SA and Rhodesian troops. The HB weighed 6kg, with a folding bipod as opposed to 4,25kg on the standard issue Fal/R1 model. Where-as all SA made R1 rifles were built on the Type 1 action, the HB’s were produced from 1961 onwards on the strengthened Type 2 action which was better suited for sustained full-auto fire and is still in use today. The HB’s were issued with 20 & 30 round magazines. It is available in wooden stocked variants with a folding shoulder rest or the standard synthetic stock. The HB also has a larger carrying handle which is reversed to better handle the increased weight. Good plus bore. Very good plus overall condition. Semi-auto only.
