Butt socket marked “Crown V.R. Enfield 1899 L.E.1*”. UDF markings to receiver. Good bore. Manufactured by “Enfield 1899”. Official UDF conversion of the “Long Lee” rifle to S.M.L.E. configuration which was approved of in 1943. Rifles were re-barrelled and fitted with S.M.L.E. fore-ends but can be identified by the absence of the charger guide. Correspondence from Technical Services Directorate identified 10 000 “Long Lee” that could be converted. Good bore. Good overall condition.
