100-F05-426 .577/.450 Martini-Henry “ZAR” Type 1 Carbine

Serial no. A85XX identifies this rifle as being part of the first batch of Mausers as per the purchase agreement signed on 2nd June 1896. Sides of receiver were marked “Mod. Mauser 1896 Ludw. Loewe & Co. Berlin”. These rifles were sold to the Burgers @GBP5.20 each. Rifle includes both cleaning rod and issue leather sling. Crisp marking to the rifle, some light pitting middle stock band and exposed area of barrel. Fair to good overall condition. (Start Bid : R8500 Hi Estimate: R11500)
