099-C-416 Salawar Sword – Scabbard

A salawar sword, more commonly known as a Khyber knife (or salawar yatagan), is a traditional short sword or large knife originating from the Khyber Pass region of Afghanistan and Pakistan. It features a heavy, single-edged blade that typically tapers from the hilt to a sharp point. The blade length often ranges from 14 to 30 inches, placing it at the intersection of a large knife and a short sword. A defining characteristic is the pronounced T-shaped spine running along the back of the blade, which adds exceptional strength and rigidity, making it ideal for both cutting and thrusting, even through armor. This one has a 24” blade. The hilt usually lacks a guard and is made of two slabs of material, such as horn, bone, wood, or ivory, which are riveted to the tang. The pommel is often simple or features a bird-like shape. The scabbard is typically made of wood covered in leather. The sword is worn thrust, unsecured, under a belt. This one is covered with canvas.
