Stuart Cloete was a South African novelist, essayist, biographer and short story writer. He wrote books like Turning Wheels and Rags of Glory. Born 1897 – Died 1976. The narrative begins with Cloete’s post-World War I life in northern France, where he rehabilitates on a family farm. Despite the tranquility, he feels a strong pull to South Africa, the land of his ancestors. He relocates to the Transvaal, where he invests in and revitalizes struggling farms. However, his marriage begins to deteriorate, leading to emotional turmoil and a growing desire to write. Hard cover, first published 1973, 221 pages. Excellent condition, slight corner damage to dust cover.
